What are the differences between the four ECL Reagents for Western blot chemiluminescent detection: #7003, #6883, #12757, and #12630?
All four ECL reagents for Western blot chemiluminescent detection work well for HRP detection. However, each reagent has its own level of sensitivity and detection limits:
- 20X LumiGLO® Reagent and 20X Peroxide #7003 is the least sensitive offering; it is capable of detecting nanogram amounts of protein by western blot analysis. Light emission can be detected for up to 3 hours post-incubation.
- SignalFire™ ECL Reagent #6883 is more sensitive than #7003 and can detect higher picogram amounts of protein by western blot analysis. Light emission can be detected for up to 3 hours post-incubation.
- SignalFire™ Plus ECL Reagent #12630 is our second most sensitive substrate and can detect low picogram amounts of protein by western blot analysis. Light emission can be detected for up to 24 hours post-incubation, but is maximal immediately after exposure of the substrate to HRP.
- SignalFire™ Elite ECL Reagent #12757 is our most sensitive substrate; it can detect femtogram amounts of protein by western blot analysis. Light emission can be detected for up to 3 hours.
