Why do I see two bands for VEGF Receptor 2 by western blot?
Our VEGF Receptor 2 antibodies, i.e., #2472, #2479, and #9698, recognize total VEGFR2, which includes any post-translationally modified versions of the protein. Therefore, because VEGFR2 is a glycoprotein and glycosylation slows the target's migration on a SDS-PAGE gel, two bands are detected that represent the modified (glycosylated) and the unmodified (non-glycosylated) forms of VEGFR2.
